The Mason Dixon Red Angus Association (MDRAA) will be having the Red Angus Genetic Improvement Sale in conjunction with the VA Beef Expo on Thursday, April 13, 2006 and a Junior Red Angus Heifer and Steer Show on April 14, 2006 at 5:00 p.m. during the Expo. As in the past the Mason Dixon Red Angus Association would like all available juniors to assist the sale manager in any capacity asked of him or her and to include moving sale cattle to and from the sale ring. Junior participation is much appreciated! The following information contains an entry form for the junior show and if planning to show must be returned no later then Wednesday, April 5, 2006. Please read the rules carefully on the entry form as the MDRAA has decided to be very lenient on ownership of the females shown in an attempt to encourage juniors to exhibit during the junior show. Please note any halter broke and show ready females purchased by a junior or parent of a junior will be allowed to be exhibited during the junior show the next day as long as that junior exhibits the animal and is between the eligible age limits. Please be advised if a minimum number of 6 pre-registered animals (heifers or steers) the heifers will be incorporated to the Youth Other Breed of Registered Heifers Show scheduled for Friday, April 14, 2006 at 5:00 p.m. and steers with the Youth Steer Show scheduled for Saturday, April 15, 2006 at 10:30 a.m. Note these two youth shows are for VA residents only while the Youth Red Angus Show is open to out of State residents. Gabe Zepp will notify all participants in advance if this occurs. If you have questions please contact me and I will assist you in any way I can. During the sale the juniors will also be hosting a silent auction and potentially a 50/50 raffle as fund raiser activities. If you would like to donate an item for the silent auction please bring it with you and give to me before the sale on Friday. I will provide silent auction slips as to who donated the item and bidding sheets. A junior meeting may be held on Friday, April 14, 2006 at the VA Beef Expo at 11:00 a.m. Please make plans to be present. During this time we will select officers for 2006 and discuss upcoming activities with the juniors. If the Youth Red Angus Show is cancelled there will be no junior meeting. If planning to attend the junior meeting and not planning to show please contact Gabe Zepp (443-340-0808) in advanced to determine the status of the meeting.
